What is Integrated Attachment Theory?

What is Integrated Attachment Theory?

Integrated Attachment Theory is the process of healing your attachment style and unhealthy thought or behavioural patterns using strategies to recondition your subconscious mind.

This approach combines strategies for reconditioning to create a holistic, cutting-edge approach to heal subconscious blocks, without needing to re-experience painful events from the past.

Integrated Attachment Theory was created by Thais Gibson, Ph.D. in Transpersonal Counselling, founder of the Personal Development School, and author of Learning Love.
Integrated Attachment Theory combines principles of subconscious reconditioning that helped Gibson's clients most and draws from traditional Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Hypnotherapy, Somatic Processing, and NLP

With a focus on attachment-based trauma, Gibson applied cutting-edge approaches to healing in all areas of life that are long-lasting and results-oriented. She recognized that for real change to exist, healing must take place at the subconscious level.

We all have challenges

You get that we approach problems differently, based on our life experiences. Check.

But you may not realize how our subconscious mind influences the types problems we find ourselves in, and how we handle them. When we try to face issues without collaborating with our subconscious mind, we end up with two common roadblocks:

1. We identify short-term solutions to the deeper problem.

Usually the solution we think of (better communication, more respect, independence, less pressure, more quality time, etc.) only addresses the top-layers of the problem.
> The issue often has much deeper roots in our subconscious, and is reflected in the intensity of our emotional responses - like a trip-wire we're not even be aware of until we hit it.

2. We don't follow through on the solutions.

When we understand a problem on a purely intellectual level, it will never change the emotional response we have in the moment that we're faced with the problem.
> This is why we often continue repeating patterns that we know aren't the best for us instead of doing what we "know" is better (because it's what the subconscious mind prefers and is familiar with).

A chronic tug-of-war happens between our Conscious Mind (what we aspire to do) and Subconscious Mind
(what we end up doing). 

This creates more stress because we judge and criticize ourselves if we don't like what we're doing and don't understand why we're doing it (aka. the dynamic between our conscious & subconscious mind!)

How it works

- First we discuss your current challenges and define your personal goals on our Discovery Call

- We spend 1- 2 sessions gathering information about your circumstances and isolating the patterns

- I develop a Personalized Program for you that lays out how we will solve these problems at the root

- Each week, you'll learn and be guided through exercises that help you better understand yourself, recondition old patterns, and see how your brain is really working

- After each session, you'll get a summary of what we covered, and an at-home exercise for you to practice and integrate the information we've covered if you wish
*Independent work is key to getting the best results possible

- Our work together usually lasts 3 to 6 months, and you'll start seeing results much sooner.
It's also possible to extend sections if you decide you would like more practice and support with a specific issue
