My Story

I began my healing journey as most do: confused and in pain.

I had a lonely, chaotic childhood, which I felt was a reflection of my own flaws.

I was desperate to understand the pain I was in and the people involved in it.

I was exhausted from feeling like I struggled in most of my relationships (and honestly, with life in general).

Now that I look back, my wounds usually showed up to handle them for me; which unsurprisingly led to even more conflict and challenges. I had no idea how to start feeling better.

I knew I had pain and trauma to heal, but I had no idea how much was there beneath the surface of everything, and I had no idea how to start.

What I learned

When you change your subconscious conditioning, you change your experience of the world (yourself, your relationships, everything)

> I wasn't just overthinking or suspicious, I was hypervigilant - an evolutionary protection mechanism that our brain develops at an early age in order to cope with consistently unsafe people and/or environments

> Traditional Attachment Theory: how styles form, how they evolve into adulthood, and how they interact with each other

> Inner Child therapy and how to get in touch with my emotions, to have compassion for myself, see my innate worth, and to nurture the relationship with myself first if I want anything else to improve

> Shadow work which helps to unravel our own prejudice and judgments of others by getting curious, looking inward, accepting and integrating ourselves

> Integrated Attachment Theory which combines principles of attachment theory, NLP, CBT, DBT, hypnotherapy, and somatic processing

Most importantly, how to implement this in my life and create changes! I learned how to accept myself, make healthier decisions that are aligned with my goals instead of fears, being vulnerable (even though it still felt scary), and building a loving relationship that goes beyond my imagination every day.

I found so much peace and empowerment in having these personal breakthroughs that it became my passion.

I became addicted to my own personal growth and dedicated to making sure that I broke the cycles that caused me pain in my relationships.

Thinking about how full my heart is now, compared to how I used to feel about myself and my life is hard to believe, and I'm so grateful I kept going.

What I did

I started The Growth Approach with the goal of sharing the knowledge, tools, and strategies that helped me change my life and relationships.

In university, I planned on writing government and corporate policies to improve mental health care. I wanted people to have more access to support, and I wanted to write solutions that would close the gaps and inequalities of care.

But then I realized that policies and programs are not responsible for caring for people, people are.

Policies and programs are just the tools that organize resources to provide them. And if there are not enough or ineffective resources to support people, no policy or program alone can fix that.

My solution to this problem is to empower people with tools to support themselves - which is where The Growth Approach comes in.

For four years, I had been learning and implementing Integrated Attachment Theory to improve my own life, to build emotional literacy, heal my relationship with myself and others by working through my past, and consciously creating (most of) the life I have now.

I couldn't stop talking about the lessons I'd learned and how impactful they had been in every area of my life, and I made the decision to become a Certified Integrated Attachment Theory Practitioner. In November 2022, I became certified to guide others through those tools and strategies for healing.

I feel so privileged to help guide others through the same processes that helped me.

After overcoming my own fears and insecurities about being able to support others, I launched my private practice the Growth Approach - my biggest breakthrough yet.

Healing is not about steeping in the pain you've gone through.

It's about embracing your life in this moment and knowing you deserve to move forward.
